You?ll be amazed at how often you look back ... and smile.
For more than thirty years, John Ned Riester had a front-row seat to life at the Virginia Military Institute-and life at VMI was rarely predictable.
In All Right, Sir, Riester opens the door to the barracks, classrooms, field trips, inspections, and countless unexpected moments that made his years at VMI unforgettable. From cadet pranks and late-night adventures to classroom antics and the sometimes-unbelievable situations faced by an Officer in Charge, these stories capture a world of discipline, tradition, friendship, and plenty of laughter.
A VMI graduate himself, Riester returned to the Institute as a professor and ultimately encountered thousands of cadets during his career. What emerged was much more than a collection of funny stories. It became a celebration of the people who make VMI what it is-and of the relationships between teachers, mentors, cadets, colleagues, and friends that endure long after graduation.
Warm, irreverent, and filled with heart, All Right, Sir is a memoir about the moments that seem crazy when they happen-and become the stories we treasure for the rest of our lives.
