Gina Kehayoff Pub 2001 Tapa dura con sobrecubierta. Perfecto estado de conservacion. A collection of over 2400 photographs found in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Archives forms the basis of this commemorative volume and its accompanying catalog. The exhibit catalog includes several essays explaining how the photographs ended up in the archives, then details the editor's search for any surviving family members and how they identified some of the individuals in the pictures. Interestingly, many of these photos belonged to a small group of families from Bedzin, Poland. Since survivors who lived in the town periodically hold reunions, it was possible to identify at least some of the individuals in the pictures. Taken together, these images reveal more than the faces of victims. They re-create the physical details of life from home to Jewish summer camps as it existed prior to the Holocaust. Although a small number of these photos have been utilized before, this is the first time that such a large number has been made available. The cataloging of the names of individuals in the pictures not only provides a personal glimpse into the destruction of Jewish families but is also of use to genealogists. Recommended for specialized libraries. Frederic Krome, Jacob Rader Marcus Ctr. of the American Jewish Archives
