-DESCRIPCIÓN PORMENORIZADA: El grabado, basado en el cuadro de pintor francés Paul Delaroche, 'Strafford marchant au supplice' (1835), muestra al arzobispo inglés Laud estirando los brazos por la pequeña ventana alta de su celda, intentando bendecir a Thomas Wentworth, primer conde de Strafford, que se detiene y arrodilla para recibir la bendición, mientras es conducido a su ejecución. Wentworth fue ajusticiado, simplemente por voluntad del Parlamento, ante un gentío de 200.000 personas el 12 de mayo de 1641.
