Descripción:

- Grabado correspondiente a la Lámina 3 de Arquitectura, perteneciente a la Enciclopedia Popular Ilustrada de Ciencias y Artes, realizada por Federico Gillman, y formada con arreglo a la Enciclopedia Iconográfica y el Conversations Lexicon de Alemania.

- En el grabado aparecen columnas, sepulcros y los restos de la antigua ciudad de Persépolis, capital del imperio Persa durante la época de aqueménida. Comprende un enorme complejo palacial sobre una terraza monumental que soporta múltiples edificios hipóstilos que tuvieron funciones protocolarias, rituales, emblemáticas o administrativas.

- En el margen superior tiene el título “ARQUITECTURA”, y en el ángulo superior derecho tiene impreso “Lam. 3”, lo que lo identifica como el Grabado número 3 de una serie sobre arquitectura.

- En el margen inferior se sitúan las identificaciones de los distintos elementos de la antigua ciudad Persa, Persépolis.

- Grabado Calcográfico al aguafuerte sobre acero, aunque también podría haberse utilizado otra técnica distinta.

- Realizado en tono monocolor negro, muy bien de tinta, centrado con aceptables márgenes y con una buena estampación.

- Que el Grabado tenga algún Distintivo, Marca o Contraste, es de gran importancia para poder identificar datos como su grabador, el dibujante, el sitio donde se imprimió y otros detalles.

Conservación y desperfectos:

- Estado General Bueno.

- El Grabado tiene un papel de espesor medio y regular calidad.

- El papel está algo sucio, pero apenas tiene manchas de óxido.

- El Grabado tiene pequeños rotos y dobleces en los bordes y las puntas.

- Si se le aplica una limpieza, el resultado podría ser muy aceptable.

- Los tonos de los colores de las fotos no son iguales a los tonos de los colores reales.

Description:

- Engraving corresponding to Plate 3 of Architecture, belonging to the Popular Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Sciences and Arts, made by Federico Gillman, and formed according to the Iconographic Encyclopaedia and the Conversations Lexicon of Germany.

- The engraving depicts columns, tombs and the remains of the ancient city of Persepolis, capital of the Persian Empire during the Achaemenid period. It comprises a huge palatial complex on a monumental terrace supporting multiple hypostyle buildings that had protocol, ritual, emblematic or administrative functions.

- In the upper margin is the title ‘ARCHITECTURE’, and in the upper right-hand corner is printed ‘Lam. 3’, which identifies it as engraving number 3 in a series on architecture.

- In the lower margin are the identifications of the different elements of the ancient Persian city of Persepolis.

- Intaglio etching on steel, although a different technique could also have been used.

- It is in single-colour black tone, very well inked, centred with acceptable margins and with good stamping.

- The fact that the engraving has a distinctive mark or contrast is of great importance in order to be able to identify data such as the engraver, the artist, the place where it was printed and other details.

Conservation and damage:

- General condition Good.

- The engraving is on medium-thick paper of fair quality.

- The paper is somewhat dirty, but there are hardly any rust stains.

- The engraving has small tears and folds at the edges and tips.

- If a cleaning is applied to it, the result could be very acceptable.
